Hello my lovelies! Today I am going to share my answers to the music tag. I thought this would be a good way to let you into my music taste a little bit so let’s get going!
Favourite Band/Musician at the Moment?
As always, I am listening to The Cure a lot as they are my all time favourite band. However, I also am listening to a lot of Queen (who I have loved for years but I blame Bohemian Rhapsody for my reinsurgence of love for them!). I also find myself listening to Beyonce a lot because she is a queen!
One Band You Always Come Back To?
As I said above, I always seem to come back to The Cure. Sometimes, I will go for a little amount of time without listening to them but there is something about their music that will always resonate with me- no matter how I am feeling.
Favourite Movie Soundtrack?
Obviously, I adore the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack because I love Queen but I will give you another response too! This is an obscure one but one of my favourite movie soundtracks is from the BBC movie Starter for Ten. Based on a book I love in my favourite time period, having the likes of Kate Bush and The Cure as the backing to the lovely story just makes it even more perfect to me!
What Is/Are Your Favourite Song(s) of All Time?
I have WAYY too many favourite songs so I will limit myself to one by each artist. ‘Drive In Saturday’ by David Bowie always sends shivers down my spine and I just love everything about it. From The Cure, my favourite song (as in the one I find myself listening to most) is ‘Fascination Street’-the bass line is EVERYTHING!-but it is closely followed by ‘Charlotte Sometimes’. As for my queen, Kate Bush, ‘L’amour Looks Something Like You’ never fails to make me smile.
What’s The Most Embarrassing Song on iTunes?
I don’t like to say any songs are embarrassing per se but the most unexpected one in my iTunes is Mambo No. 5. But it is a tune haha!
Favourite Concert You’ve Attended?
There are two concerts that are cemented into my head. The first is when I saw The Cure in 2014 (which I wrote a post about here) and the second is when I saw Adrian Edmondson in his band The Bad Shepherds. As a comedy- and general- hero of mine, it was surreal to be in the same room as him and hearing his music. This was also mere months after his best friend and comedy partner died so it was a very raw experience.
Most Underrated Musician In Your Opinion?
An underrated band in my opinion is The Twilight Sad. I think they are so incredible and I don’t think I would have discovered them if they didn’t support The Cure on their tour. However, I would definitely recommend checking them out because they make incredible music with that real hint of passion that I find absent in a lot of modern music.
Favourite Quote or Song Lyrics?
This is so hard because I love the words of so many songs. But it simply has to be this one from Doing the Unstuck by The Cure. This song just cheers me up immensely when I am low and just really puts a pep in my step and the lyrics are a massive part of that!
